We recently held our Annual Meeting and Volunteer Celebration to honor our dedicated volunteers and board members. The annual meeting is an essential part of The Shea Center’s business and governance and is a chance to recognize new leadership. Shea Center board chair Greg Talbott welcomed the event guests.
During the evening, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of our Shea Center volunteers throughout 2023. We’re thrilled to announce that, because of their dedication, 762 volunteers volunteered their time, talent, and treasure for an estimated total of 21,587 volunteer hours. Our volunteerism thrives, in part, because of the dedicated staff who taught 99 classes in 2023 for a total of 1053 hours.
Everyone enjoyed dinner from Aioli, Krispy Kreme donuts, and homemade cookies from one of our Triple Crown Award winners, Lynn Nikolenko. Lots of awards were given out, including the Golden Manure Award for our 5-time winner Don Iler. Our Horse of the Year, Superman, was present to accept his award as well as the runners-up. All in all, it was a wonderful celebration for all our guests and award recipients.
