2024 Swallows Day Parade

Mar 27, 2024 | More Info

For over 40 years, The Shea Center has been an enthusiastic participant in the San Juan Capistrano Swallows Day Parade, which is now in its 64th year.

The parade is an outgrowth of a school carnival in the 1930s, held in March to celebrate the swallows’ return to Mission San Juan Capistrano. The carnival evolved into a local equestrian parade and today is one of the nation’s largest non-motorized parades. Over the years, various activities have been added or dropped, and today, on parade day, there is a lively Mercado.

The parade’s charm draws global interest, making it a remarkable celebration that weaves together history, community spirit, and worldwide appeal.
