Seventeen-year-old Emma began riding at The Shea Center last December, and from the start, something clicked. After struggling to progress in previous therapeutic riding programs, she quickly found connection and momentum, especially with her horse, Warrior.

Each session is structured to support her growth, combining encouragement with clear, positive feedback. The calm, supportive environment helps Emma feel safe, focused, and willing to try new things. Since starting, she’s made strong physical gains, improving her balance, posture, and arm strength through riding and hands-on tasks like untacking her horse.

Beyond the physical progress, Emma has developed a deep love for horses and the barn community. She enjoys grooming, participates in barn walks, and proudly recognizes each horse by name. At home, she’s creative and curious—spending time woodworking, sewing, sketching, and even excelling in an online birding course.

Riding has become something Emma truly looks forward to each week. It’s a place where she builds confidence, connection, and social skills in a meaningful way. With her instructor, Sarina, guiding her, Emma continues to grow stronger, more independent, and deeply connected—both in and out of the arena.
