Annual Volunteer Celebration and Meeting

Jun 28, 2019 | Events, Volunteers

During our 2019 Annual Volunteer Celebration, we applauded the accomplishments of our fabulous Shea Center volunteers during 2018. We set a new record providing nearly 15,000 hours of client services in our core programs and another 2,700+ hours of training. Over 800 volunteers donated more than 30,000 hours of service!

Volunteerism takes many forms at The Shea Center and our talented team of 22 board leaders ensures that we are supported with great fundraising and solid policy and advocacy in the community.

More than 170 volunteers and guests attended our carnival themed event. We had themed food, such as a do-it-yourself popcorn toppings bar, a lemonade stand, and chocolate covered bananas with many topping options.

Some of the award highlights included:
• Triple Crown Award
• All-Star Team Award
• Golden Manure Fork Award
• Commitment Award
• Volunteer of the Year
• Youth Volunteer of the Year
• Horse of the Year
. . . and many, many more! We honored 68 volunteers for their outstanding dedication to The Shea Center and their family and friends came to help celebrate!

Staff member Karen Yamasaki manned the lemonade stand.

Tess accepted her bundle of carrots for being named Horse of the Year!
