The Shea Center is excited to announce that Alexa G. is our volunteer of the month! Alexa’s ten-year-old brother, Drew, is a Shea Center client and happily calls Alexa after his riding lessons to tell her how much fun he had. Last year, when Alexa discovered she was old enough to volunteer at the Center, she quickly joined our volunteer team.
Alexa says she loves everything about The Shea Center. She has a passion for working with kids and enjoys getting to know each of them. Working with horses makes the experience even more delightful. Her favorite horse is “Bliss.” He’s not only “cute and fluffy,” but was one of the first horses Alexa led when she started volunteering.

One of the many committed volunteers we have at The Shea Center, Alexa is a great asset because she commits 100% of her energy to being as helpful as possible. She has a positive attitude both in lessons and at the barn. Alexa has continued to grow stronger as a leader and now can handle any horse she is assigned.
On Saturdays, Alexa leads and sidewalks in as many lessons as possible. Instructor Shari Masline says, “Alexa is a wonderful leader, she has a great attitude, and I love seeing her smiling face. Her positive attitude and readiness to help makes her a pleasure to have in lessons.”
Alexa plans to be a Shea Center volunteer indefinitely and intends to encourage her younger sister to join her as a volunteer when she reaches age 14. Thank you, Alexa, for all you do for us.
