If you look in the horse stalls at The Shea Center, you may notice that each horse has its own unique bedding. This bedding provides more than just a comfortable place for our therapeutic horses to relax in between lessons.

Two distinct types of bedding are used for The Shea Center horses, both of which are made from cedar, which is a fly deterrent. The ultra-fine bedding used in most of the horse stalls is spongy in texture, retains its quality longer, and is more absorbent making it easier to clean the stalls. The medium bedding shavings cover more surface area in the horse stall, provide a fluffier base, and because of fewer dust particles are good for horses who have respiratory issues.
