Among the large variety of horse breeds at The Shea Center, the American Quarter Horse is the most popular. The Quarter Horse is an ideal mount for equine-related therapies because of its temperament and disposition. The horses are known for their warm personality, a willingness to please, and their athleticism and movement. In the 16th century, European Thoroughbreds were bred to the “native” North American horse, making the Quarter Horse reliable and sturdy. It has become part of the foundation of our herd.

Hope
The Quarter Horses in our program come in various shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Some were used for pleasure riding and others have come from successful show backgrounds. Annie, a 15-year-old Liver Chestnut, was a hunter jumper. Hope, our 20-year-old Paint, who is actually a Quarter Horse/American Warmblood cross, came from a background in dressage, winning many titles at the lower levels. Oakley, a 13-year-old Paint, was an adventurous trail horse exploring thousands of miles through Montana.

Annie
We also have a talented Western trained Quarter Horse with some extraordinary accomplishments. Remi, a 14-year-old Palomino, who will went to the world championships for reining and cutting twice, along with other accomplishments.
Beyond their showing accomplishments, the Quarter Horses at The Shea Center have proven themselves to be valuable members of our team. Each day, they consistently offer their best for our clients.
