Why we love her: Aleyna is a dependable leader and supportive sidewalker for our clients and assists the volunteer department with new volunteer trainings.

Path to The Shea Center: Aleyna’s mom learned about the Center through Facebook: “Knowing I have a passion for horses and helping others, we quickly signed me up to volunteer.” We love the positive power of social media!

Years of service:  Aleyna started volunteering in 2017 at our ‘entry level’ age of 14.

Favorite Shea Center memories: “Out of the many memories I have, my favorite was when a Friday afternoon rider finally gained the confidence to climb into the saddle and ride. At the beginning of the session, he was fearful of being in the saddle but as the weeks went by he gained confidence in himself and his horse.”

When not at The Shea Center, she can be found doing this: “I love to spend my time out in nature. I often spend my days at the beach, hiking with my family and friends, or taking my dog to the park.”

She finds her bliss… “Helping others, especially those who are at a disadvantage. I love volunteering at The Shea Center because I see how much value and joy the horses (and the mule!) bring to the people who ride here.”

Future plans for this game-changer: Aleyna hopes to pursue a degree working with animals or people (two of our favorite things!). “I want to continue to give back to my community.”
