During the past 43 years, The Shea Center has earned an international reputation as a leader in the field of therapeutic riding, but did you know that the Center also offers internships to graduate students pursuing degrees in physical and occupational therapy as well as speech therapy through Life Spirit Speech?
The Shea Center has partnered with more than fifteen universities to provide internships to help students complete the clinical experience required for graduation. Students participating in internships at The Shea Center receive hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to apply the education they have received in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and pathology. Furthermore, students at The Shea Center provide in-service presentations to staff on current and novel topics in their field.

In addition to partnering with Chapman University’s Department of Physical Therapy, The Shea Center has hosted college interns from Arizona State, Azusa Pacific, CSU Long Beach, Columbia University, Mount St. Mary’s, Northwestern, UCI and USC to name a few. International students from Canada and Great Britain have also come to observe and experience therapy sessions.
