Volunteers Needed

Nov 5, 2021 | Volunteers

Do you have extra free time during the week?  Are you looking for something fun and interesting to do to fill your time?  Consider volunteering at The Shea Center.

We are looking for permanent volunteers willing to commit an hour each week (or more) for one session (10 – 11 weeks) to sidewalk in our client lessons.  It is important for the comfort of our clients to have the same sidewalkers helping them each week.

Potential volunteers must complete a one-hour orientation and attend and pass a one-and-a-half hour sidewalking class.  We especially need volunteers on Friday and Saturday afternoon, and we could also benefit from having more substitute sidewalkers. No horse experience is necessary!  We will teach you everything you need to know to help us serve our clients.

If you think you might enjoy something other than sidewalking, there are other opportunities available such as barn steward and tack crew.

Volunteering at Shea is rewarding and a great opportunity to meet new friends.  It is gratifying to know that your efforts are part of what helps make our clients successful in achieving their goals.

Give it some thought . . . Look on our website volunteering page to view our volunteering video, get more information, and complete an online application.  We hope you join us!
