Client Spotlight: Lorelei W.

Apr 8, 2022 | Clients, Physical Therapy

Lorelei W. is a smiley seven-year-old who loves to scoot around in her new gait trainer, which she recently received.

Diagnosed with seizure disorder and global developmental delay, Lorelei has diminished core strength and balance challenges and receives occupational, physical, and speech therapy treatments at school where she is in first grade.  Walking in her gait trainer and riding Auggie at The Shea Center are helping to build her core muscles, and now she can sit up straight longer on the side of her bed.  Lorelei doesn’t stand independently yet, but is learning to walk up and down stairs at home.

Lorelei’s grandmother, Pat, remarks, “Because of diminished expressive speech Lorelei understands more than she speaks, but her vocabulary is increasing every day.  At The Shea Center, all the therapists are very nice to Lorelei, but they don’t let her get away with any shenanigans.”

Lorelei is a happy child and is excited to visit Shea.  She loves music and to dance and clap.  She and her eight-year-old brother, Zachary, will be attending Shea’s summer camp together this year.
