Staff Bio: Meet Paul, Barn Manager

Apr 18, 2023 | More Info, Our Barn

Paul Worley was raised in Eden, NC, and since he was a young boy wanted to become a United States Marine. He achieved his goal, became a gunnery sergeant, and spent a 20-year career in the military. After he served several tours of duty and retired from the Marine Corps, he joined the military program that was just being established at The Shea Center.

A horse lover his entire life, Paul enjoyed being at the Center and became a volunteer in The Shea Center barn. After several months, Shea called on him to become the Center’s barn manager. To Paul, that was a perfect fit. He works outside, works with the horses, and can help fellow veterans.

As Barn Manager, Paul is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our barn and managing his team of barn assistants. He directs the feeding and stall cleaning for our horses, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the barn. Paul also manages the hay, shavings, and supplies ordering and delivery, ensuring our barn’s smooth and efficient operation!

Paul says, “I enjoy the people I work with, and I know everyone has the same drive and passion I do. I’m enjoying advancing my own riding abilities and overall knowledge, and being able to provide the herd with everything they need.”
