At Home Riding Skills: Heels & Balance

Apr 2, 2020 | Adaptive Riding

Here is a video by PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Instructor Manager, Alex, with exercises you can do at home to help maintain muscle memory and strength for adaptive riding.

This Heels Down exercise is good for balance and stability while riding.

1. Step onto a stair, solid box, or curbside. Hang your heels off of the edge.

2. Find even weight through the balls of your feet (the front soles of your feet). Maintain your balance with your heels dropped down.

3. For added challenge, bend in the knees and slightly bounce up and down.
