Josie H. is a cute, fearless little girl learning to be cautious. Diagnosed with an extremely rare metabolic deficiency disorder with congenital cataracts and neutropenia, she has gross motor delay and depth perception issues.
But those don’t slow Josie down! She is defying the odds by learning to compensate where necessary and overcoming her balance and coordination challenges.
Josie’s physical therapy at The Shea Center is allowing her to become more mobile by building her confidence, strengthening her core, improving her balance, and she’s learning to run faster too! She likes to trot on Alik, ride forward or backward, stand up on the horse, and feed Alik carrots and apples. And she loves to share her horse stories with her family and friends.
Just turning three years old, Josie has confidence in her abilities and is social, outgoing, caring, and empathetic. She has had hands-on STEM therapy, knows her numbers and the alphabet, and is meeting all her milestones. A determined child, Josie is figuring out her capabilities and learning to use them.
