On December 19th , 2023 The Shea Center hosted a Holiday Resource Fair & Food Distribution Event in partnership with Supervisor Katrina Foley’s office, CalOptima, Unidos South OC, and more organizations. The event included food boxes from Northgate Market, fresh tortillas from Taco Mesa, toy and grocery gift cards, CalOptima sign-ups, and a vaccine clinic providing flu shots, Covid vaccines and boosters.

More than 500 total people from the local community came through our gates, with an estimated 250 households receiving grocery gift cards and assistance signing up for Medi-Cal and CalFresh through CalOptima. It was wonderful to see every child in attendance receive a new toy for the holidays!

Our staff hosted a table at the event to share information about The Shea Center’s services. Staff members Nichole Bakke, Development Associate and Mari Rockwood, Adaptive Riding Instructor educated guests about our services in Spanish and English. They also helped guests fill out interest forms for volunteering opportunities and potential clients.
