DPR Construction has a long history of contributing to The Shea Center as well as other communities. From corporate training and education for our staff to hands-on construction projects, DPR truly lives up to their mission to “exist to build great things.” Thanks to Shea board member Jim Washburn, DPR has been a valued partner for many years.
Most recently, DPR Construction partnered with Muhlhauser Steel and several generous companies to complete a special project for The Shea Center. Led by DPR executive Jason King, the team came together for a unique team-building exercise: building a hay soaking station for our herd. Muhlhauser Steel fabricated a custom rack for the hay to drain, while Sunbelt Rentals, Pan Pacific, and Holiday Rock donated equipment, plumbing, and concrete to bring the project to life.

Why it matters: More than 16 of our 28 horses require soaked hay to maintain their health. Soaking lowers the sugar in the hay, helping to prevent health challenges in older horses. With this new purpose-built soaking station, our barn team can more easily and safely manage the daily task of soaking hundreds of pounds of hay.
In addition, Team DPR added concrete to our shavings storage pad. This improvement not only increases storage capacity but also provides a reinforced foundation for our forklift to safely unload and maneuver shavings.

We are incredibly grateful to DPR Construction and their partners for their generosity, hard work, and commitment to our mission. You aspire to be integral and indispensable in the community — and we say, “mission achieved!”
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone involved:
