Long before the first client rider of the day arrives at The Shea Center, our horses have been groomed, tacked, exercised, and prepped for their lessons. It takes a lot of man (and woman) hours to get our herd of 25 horses ready for the day. The staff at The Shea Center could not get everything accomplished without the help of our terrific and efficient morning volunteers who are an essential part of keeping our horses happy and healthy.
It takes a very special person to volunteer amidst the crunch time of the morning schedule. Between pulling tack; cleaning, grooming, tacking, and untacking horses; cleaning equipment; helping with the leading method; figuring out which horses need to be ready when and for who; and then adjusting to constant schedule changes, the morning volunteers are kept on their toes!
From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every horse is exercised and schooled so that by the 1:30 p.m. client lessons start time, the horses are ready to perform. So, helmets off to the fabulous morning volunteer crew!
