The Shea Center’s adaptive riders are excited to be back riding their beloved horses once again. Dylan H. is one of those clients.
Jamie Smartt, Dylan’s instructor, says, “Dylan has been riding at The Shea Center for seven years and has become a very accomplished independent rider. Every Wednesday afternoon, Dylan shows up promptly to go to the barn to get his horse, Tess. Last Wednesday was no different, except he hadn’t seen Tess for four months! Dylan was extremely excited: it was clear the bond was still there. Once mounted and in the arena, it was as if they hadn’t missed a single day of riding.”

Dylan’s mother, Robin, had this to say, “Dylan is thrilled to be back at The Shea Center and riding his favorite horse. During The Shea Center closure, Dylan was sad and several times a week he mentioned he missed Tess. He kept asking me when he could go back to riding and when the Center would open again. He was eager to return to The Shea Center last week, and it was wonderful to see his happiness when he was riding. His bond with Tess is unmistakable. The riding lessons mean so much to Dylan; I’m relieved they have resumed.”
