The Shea Center’s volunteer of the month, Denise Wishney, was named the 2018 Blue Angler Woman of the Year. Denise is a professional fisherwoman. She and her husband, Peter, have traveled the world from the British Virgin Islands to Venezuela and Costa Rica fishing and winning awards. She has also won Female Angler and Overall Angler of the Year. Denise remarks, “Winning is great, but the fishing has all been pure fun and I am extremely passionate about it.”

Since she was young, Denise has loved being around horses. After learning about The Shea Center, she decided to become a volunteer. She has taken a particular liking to Champ because of his rodeo background and the fact that she likes the way he looks! On Friday afternoons, Denise can be found working as a leader or helping in the barn. She eagerly learns new information and is quick to help set up the arenas or pull tack.

Instructor Caitlyn Turner comments, “Denise is great with the clients and horses. She’s a fun- loving person with a great attitude. She is always smiling and I look forward to hearing about her amazing fishing adventures.”
