Volunteer of the month, Jennifer Keenen, was greatly impressed by the training the volunteers received during her orientation and immediately decided she wanted to become part of our volunteer team. She began as a member of the barn crew helping ready the horses for lessons. At the time, Jennifer had little experience with horses and working on the barn crew helped increase her knowledge and build her confidence.
Jennifer particularly enjoys working with lesson treatment assistant, Danielle Cupps, because Danielle’s encouragement and appreciation for Jennifer’s hard work puts a smile on her face.
According to Danielle, “Jennifer is a hard worker. She has a strength about her that makes her good with clients, and I trust her at the barn. Her consistently meticulous work reflects her dedication to keeping the barn looking fresh and ready for clients.”

Jennifer has also become an excellent lesson sidewalker! She keeps the clients engaged in their lessons and makes the activities fun for them. Jennifer truly enjoys focusing on the needs of the clients, ensuring that they have a beneficial lesson.
Jennifer is a dedicated mom to four children and loves volunteering. She has volunteered both in her children’s classrooms and at her church. Jennifer is also an active runner and is currently getting ready for her first half marathon.
Thank you, Jennifer, for your commitment to our horses and clients. The Shea Center is honored to have many dedicated volunteers like you.
