The horses at The Shea Center serve a vital role in helping clients achieve their goals. There are expenses to help keep the herd in excellent condition. To this end, we rely on generous donors to support our horse sponsorship program. The funds are used to acquire feed, shavings, farrier services, tack, veterinary care, and for stall management.

The following horses need sponsorship:

Huckleberry needs a partial sponsorship. Huckleberry is a 10-year-old Gypsy Draft Cross who came from a ranch in Canada. His unique coloring is called Strawberry Roan, which is a mix of white and red hairs. His height, stature, and temperament make him perfect for the Military Program riders. He has a wide base of support; some say he is like “sitting on a couch,” which is great for balance during vaulting. When Huckleberry is not in client lessons, he enjoys socializing with other herd members in the turn-out pens. Looking closely at his face, you can see that he has a mustache.

Artex needs a partial sponsorship. He is an 18-year-old Fjord gelding who arrived at The Shea Center in December 2022. Before coming to The Shea Center, he was an all-around horse competing in western, trail riding, English, and jumping. His tracked-up gait provides ample movement and sensory input for his riders. His willingness to please and “go with the flow” personality makes him a wonderful addition to hippotherapy treatments and adaptive riding lessons.

Remi needs partial sponsorship. Remi is a 18-year-old Quarter Horse gelding. His Quarter Horse build and willing personality make him great in therapy and adaptive riding lessons. He is great for riders to build confidence and independence on their horse.

Boog needs partial sponsorship. Boog may have a short stature, but he has a big personality. His broad base of support allows clients to vault, work on core balance, and feel secure on his back.

Jericho needs a partial sponsorship. Jericho’s unique crossbreed of Quarter Horse and Friesian makes him a steady addition to the military and adaptive riding programs. Jericho has the personality of a Labrador Retriever who loves to socialize and receive lots of attention and pets.
If you are interested in helping our programs grow, sponsoring a horse is a great way to contribute! We encourage families, companies, and foundations to consider supporting a Shea horse with sponsorships ranging from $3,750 to $15,000.
