The Good Life of Our Horses – Part 2

Mar 31, 2022 | Our Barn

If you haven’t read part one yet, check out The Good Life of Our Horses – Part 1 here.

We keep The Shea Center program horses in top condition by providing excellent orthopedic, chiropractic, dentistry, massage therapy, and general health care.

To ensure its wellbeing, each horse is properly fitted with comfortable tack, which is wiped down daily and thoroughly cleaned during session breaks.  A professional saddle fitter comes twice a year to make certain the tack is fitting properly, as often the horses change shape and need to be refitted.

Adaptive Riding

The horses each have an individualized diet plan, which consists of feed, hay and supplements based upon each horse’s requirements.

In addition to three meals per day, unless a horse’s diet is restricted, they often receive apple and carrot snacks fed to them by clients.

All of The Shea Center horses receive lots of loving attention and grooming from the riders, staff, and volunteers.
