Therapy Horse Bio: Meet Apple Jax

May 29, 2025 | Our Barn

Apple Jax is a handsome, sweet, and expressive Palomino pony with a heart as golden as his coat. Donated by a local family who cherished him for over a decade, they knew he would bring just as much joy to the children of Shea as he did to their own. Apple’s gentle nature and unwavering dependability make him a beloved and trusted partner for our riders in the adaptive riding program.

Why we love him: Apple Jax is a steady, reliable pony with an irresistibly sweet personality. Unflappable and willing, he takes everything in stride and is always eager to do what’s asked of him. With his kind eyes and gentle spirit, Apple Jax quickly wins hearts. He especially enjoys one-on-one attention from clients and lovingly returns their affection with soft nuzzles.

What makes him an excellent therapy horse: Apple Jax is patient and dependable, traits most appreciated by our young clients. His buttery smooth canter is ideal for teaching independent riders in the adaptive riding program. He brings joy and confidence to anyone who works with him

Years of Service: Apple Jax arrived at The Shea Center in January 2025.

Previous Career(s): Before coming to The Shea Center, Apple Jax was a trusted mount for hunters, jumpers, dressage, and all-around lesson horse.
