Learn about Pixie, aka “Ms. Personality.”

Pixie is a darling, playful Gypsy Vanner mare who loves to engage any human passing by her stall. Within the short time she has been at Shea, Pixie has already shown that great talent is packed in her small, but mighty horse body.
Why we love her: Since her arrival at The Shea Center, Pixie has proven to be smart and willing. She is always up for a challenge and takes her job seriously when the client is at work. But don’t be fooled; Pixie loves her playtime with clients, staff, or fellow horses. Pixie just exudes fun!
What makes her a great therapy horse: Pixie is the perfect fit for our therapy team — and not just because of her adorable disposition (though she’s got plenty of that too!). At just the right height, she allows therapists to use hands-on techniques safely and effectively. Her broad back offers a stable base for developmental positions like hands-and-knees, and her beautiful 3-dimensional movement promotes pelvic and spinal mobility while activating postural muscles, key for building core strength and balance. Plus, Pixie’s goofy charm and big personality make every session more engaging, sparking smiles and conversations that support social and language development.
Years of Service: Pixie arrived at The Shea Center in January 2025.
Previous Career(s): Before coming to The Shea Center, Pixie did everything from Western pleasure to English show jumping to being an all-around kid’s pony.
Fun Fact: Pixie loves the beach and has been known to bob for seaweed!
