Big congratulations to our newest Volunteer of the Month, Jaye!

Why we love her: Jaye always arrives (and leaves) with a smile; her friendly and easy-going nature makes her a favorite sidewalker with our clients. Always consistent and reliable, Jaye goes with the flow with any changes in the schedule.

Path to The Shea Center: Through friends. “I rode horses when I was younger and when I retired I wanted to work with children and horses. It’s the perfect fit!”

Years of service: Jaye has been sidewalking with clients since she began volunteering four years ago.

Favorite Shea Center memories: “Last year when Tala celebrated her 30th birthday, everyone wore birthday hats…including her horse Hope! We sang and danced to Disney tunes and, of course, ate birthday cake.” Jaye also celebrates her time with client Luca, giving treats to his favorite horse Annie.

Lessons learned: “That The Shea Center is the most amazing place, helping to improve the lives of people. The dedicated staff, barn crew and the countless volunteers are always creating the best experience for the clients. There is no place like Shea!”

When not at The Shea Center, she likes to: Enjoy the outdoors! “I hike regularly with a group of friends. I also enjoy reading and learning new things.”

She finds her bliss doing this: “Spending time with family and friends. And of course, volunteering at Shea!”
