Why we love her: Every Saturday morning, Linda gets the job done – pulling tack, leading in lessons, scooping manure, folding laundry, cleaning the cross-ties and tack rooms and taking care of our horses. “The Shea Center is my ‘happy place’. I enjoy it all.”
Path to The Shea Center: “A friend at work told me about The Shea Center. She knew how much I liked children and horses. I have always had both in my life, and I had been looking for somewhere to volunteer and give back to the community.”
Years of service: Linda is a 10-year volunteer! Favorite Shea Center memories: “The clients are the best. I love seeing the confidence and smiles of accomplishment on their faces when they are riding. I have worked with Morgan for many years and have enjoyed getting to know him and his family and friends. He has become such an independent rider that he almost doesn’t need me!”

Lessons learned: “I can’t say enough about the staff and volunteers. Everyone has always been so kind and helpful. I have learned so many techniques to use with the horses, and I have learned a lot about the different kinds of disabilities that The Shea Center serves. I never thought that ‘riding a horse’ could do so much through their different types of movement.”
She finds her bliss doing this: “I keep busy with my family, gardening, projects around the house and I love dancing. Sewing and crafts are also things I enjoy, and of course spending time at the barn with our horse.”
Future plans: “Hopefully my plans to retire this year will come to fruition and I can spend more time at The Shea Center.”
