Please join us in congratulating our newest Volunteer of the Month, Raquel!
Why we love her: Raquel is one of our top-notch, quiet and steady, sidewalkers who has worked consistently and diligently with client Abigail, and is always ready to step in as a substitute.
Road to The Shea Center: “I learned about The Shea Center through a friend, and what sparked my interest were the friendly people, the kids seemed awesome to work with, and it is a way to gain hands-on experience for my career in Kinesiology.

Years of service: Since August 2018
Favorite Shea memories: “Military Family day, the volunteer drive-through celebration in 2020…but best of all is meeting my client Abigail.”
Lessons learned: “I’ve learned how to tack, groom, sidewalk, handle barn duties, and most importantly, how to make a difference in people’s lives.”
When not at The Shea Center, she is…: “Working on school, paddle boarding, trying a new hobby, baking or cooking.”
She finds her bliss doing this: “Volunteering anywhere I can, making a difference in people’s lives, getting out there and being involved at any city event.”
Future plans for this game-changer: “To complete my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, travel a bit, explore small towns, and eventually make my way to med school to become a physician assistant or an occupational therapist.”
