Volunteer of the Month: Robert P.

Mar 12, 2020 | Volunteers

You need me to work in the barn? Great, I’m here!

You need me to sidewalk for someone? Great, I’m here!

You need me to help with a mount or a dismount? Great, I’m here!

You need me to lead for a session? Great, I’m here!

Those were the words of our Shea Center volunteer of the month, Robert Pingatore when asked about his favorite role at The Shea Center and he replied “factotum.”

Robert points out, “To willingly forego the most valuable thing humans have, which is time, and to commit it to others is pretty fulfilling stuff. I would encourage any volunteer to consider signing up for additional training to acquire advanced skills. Being able to perform any task that arises is a skill of its own.”

Robert has been a volunteer at The Shea Center for six months and learned of the Center from his wife, Heather, who is also a volunteer. “Once I got a deeper understanding of the Shea mission, and just how much impact hippotherapy can have on people, I was sold . . . and once I started volunteering, I was hooked. I truly appreciate everyone I encounter at Shea and I value the friendships I’ve made with both staff members and fellow volunteers,” he remarked.

When not spending time with his favorite Shea Center horse, “Major”, Robert can be found studying jiujitsu or working as a strength coach and personal trainer. He is also a freelance marketing and public relations copywriter and owns an off-the-track Thoroughbred horse. When he is really relaxing, Robert enjoys reading and country music.

Congratulations, Robert. We love your enthusiasm for The Shea Center and being a factotum! Yes, you are a man of many skills.
