Volunteer of the Month: Salvador

Jul 15, 2024 | Volunteers

Congratulations to Salvador Morales, our July Volunteer of the Month. Volunteer services manager Michele Gringas comments, “It has been wonderful getting to know Salvador and having him as a volunteer. His optimism, genuine joy, and willingness to be a part of all things Shea are a gift to everyone!”

Why we love him: Salvador is a dedicated Saturday morning sidewalker and barn volunteer. He also volunteers at our on-site events, such as the Unidos Day event and the Shea BBQ, along with community events in San Juan Capistrano, providing information about Shea in Spanish and translating for staff.

Road to The Shea Center: Salvador learned about Shea from our appearance in the Swallows Day parade and our website.

Years of service: Salvador will celebrate his second Shea anniversary this September.

Lessons learned: “Communication with clients and participating in their progress.”

Favorite Shea Center Memories: Salvador enjoys participating with fellow Shea volunteers, staff, clients, and client families in the Swallows Day parade.

When not volunteering at The Shea Center, he can be found doing this: “Playing my guitar, singing oldies, and playing with my grandchildren.”

He finds his bliss doing this…: “Being at Shea. Shea has changed my life.”

A smiling man in a black hat and a woman in a blue shirt and cap walk alongside a child riding a horse. The child, wearing a blue helmet and shirt, sits comfortably on the horse. They are outdoors on a dirt path, surrounded by trees and a building in the background. This scene captures the supportive and therapeutic environment of The Shea Center, highlighting the joy and engagement of the participants.    A smiling man in a blue shirt and black hat walks alongside a child riding a horse.
