Shelby Holloway, a fulltime nursing assistant during the week, is our Volunteer of the Month. She is a key player at our barn on Saturday mornings preparing our horses for the morning lessons. Shelby came to The Shea Center through Sycamore Trails Stables and her best friend, Lauren Grulkowski, who is also a Shea Center volunteer.

Shelby says she loves to work at the barn because there is always a lot of action and plenty to learn about the herd. She can often be found working with her favorite horse, “Mini.” Shelby remarks, “’Mini’ has a fabulous personality and is extremely kind and patient with me.”
The lesson treatment assistants (LTAs) agree that Saturday mornings would be much more hectic without Shelby’s assistance. LTA Madison Hicks comments, “Shelby’s calm and persistent manner helps our lessons run in a timely fashion. I’m confident that I can leave Shelby alone at the barn and she will handle whatever comes up.”

Shelby has appeared on television in “Little People, Big World” and Chelsea Handler’s “Chelsea Lately.”
