Where We Get Our Program Horses

Jul 9, 2020 | More Info, Our Barn

Most of our horses are generously donated by individuals.  Because not all horses are good candidates for a therapeutic riding program, each horse goes through a thorough 90-day trial period.

A program horse candidate must be calm, react positively to human interaction, be in good physical condition, and have been well-trained under the saddle at the walk, trot, and canter.

If you are interested in donating a horse to The Shea Center, please visit the horse donation page on our website.

All of our horses need sponsors, and charitable donors support our horse sponsorship program.  This program provides funding for the annual cost of horse care requirements.  We offer three sponsorship levels and all donations are tax-deductible and designated for The Shea Center’s equine care fund.  Visit our website for more information or contact Carly Taufaasau at ctaufaasau@sheacenter.org
