While hundreds of volunteer opportunities are available all around us, volunteering at The Shea Center is an entirely different experience. With this opportunity, serving from the heart will be rewarded with client bonding, smiles, and being an integral part of our clients’ weekly accomplishments. Being a Shea volunteer allows you to offer your time, talent, and treasure in various volunteer opportunities, from sidewalking with a rider to leading the lesson horse. For those who would prefer to work behind the scenes, you can be a part of our barn or tack crew. There is something for everyone, and no horse experience is necessary!
We see approximately 345 clients per week and, on average, utilize 189 volunteers, totaling 363+ hours. Volunteers are the backbone of running our program. Depending on your desire or availability, you can volunteer as little as one hour a week or more. We celebrate our volunteers throughout the year and with an annual dinner and awards ceremony to show our appreciation.
For those interested in becoming a volunteer aged 14+, go to SheaCenter.org/volunteer to get started. Once we receive your information, we will reach out to you to attend an orientation to learn more about being a volunteer. We will provide all the training needed to become an educated volunteer who performs well and understands their role during the client lesson/treatment.
