Full Circle Connections

April 29, 2024

Dana Butler-Moburg, the CEO of The Shea Center, had a surprising phone conversation recently when she called the Center’s computer help line and was connected with technician Stephen Williams.

As they waited for Dana’s computer to reboot, the conversation turned to Dana’s time at Shea, which was previously known as the Fran Joswick Therapeutic Riding Center. They realized that Dana had been working at Joswick when Stephen was a client there. It’s a small world, as Stephen is now working as our IT technician.

Stephen rode at The Shea Center for four years, starting at the age of nine in 1995. Initially, he viewed horseback riding as simply a new sport to learn. However, he realized that riding helped him improve his muscle weakness. Stephen’s skill as a rider led him to win trophies at the CALNET horse show each year. CALNET is one of the largest horse shows for individuals with disabilities.

Stephen shared with Dana his lifelong passion for computer repair, and now his path has come full circle as he works at Shea’s computer help desk.
